The key to an effective window installation is teamwork. The major players on this team are the window company, the management company and the co-op or condo board. On large projects, the liaison between these three players is the on-site project coordinator.
An on-site coordinator's training is in communication and project management. It's their responsibility to schedule installation appointments at each apartment and update tenants and management on the progress of the project. Before work begins they inform residents how to prepare for installation and after the job is complete they review each apartment to make sure the windows are functioning properly and the residents knows how to use them. They also update management and the board on a weekly basis and keep a daily log of the project's progress.
During the project the on-site coordinator also ensures that all hallways and elevators are prepared for the increased traffic an installation will bring. They make sure drop cloths are in place and that all surfaces are protected. Afterwards, they make sure that all floors are vacuumed thoroughly and that, except for the new windows, tenants and management cannot tell that a large-scale installation project just took place.
